The workshop will take place in Nijmegen. Nijmegen is a city in the eastern part of the Netherlands, about 10 kilometers from the German border. It is located on the banks of the river Waal, the main branch of the Rhine. The address is:

Sign Language Interpretation

There will be interpretation from English to American Sign Language (ASL) for all the talks and the poster sessions. This has been possible thanks to the generous contributions of Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics, NWO, the Donders Institute for Brain and Cognition, and the International Office at Radboud University.

 

Poster guidelines

Posters can be displayed in either landscape or portrait format and they should be on A0 paper size, which is 841 x 1189 mm (33.1 x 46.8 inches). Unfortunately we cannot offer onsite printing. Details on the dates for poster presentations will be available soon.

 

Traveling

a) Plane

Amsterdam Airport Schiphol
The biggest airport in the Netherlands – Schiphol, is about 90 min. away, and offers an easy train connection (see information under ‘Train’). International travellers are very likely to arrive to this airport.

Dusseldorf Weeze Airport
This airport is located in Weeze, Germany about 40 min. away from Nijmegen city centre. There are shuttles running from Weeze Airport to Nijmegen Central station directly (costs about € 18.00), but you need to make a reservation in advance. Please keep in mind that ‘Nijmegen’ in German is spelled ‘Nimwegen’.

Eindhoven Airport
Another airport close to Nijmegen is located in Eindhoven, about 80 min. away. You can check the flights to Eindhoven Airport, and then plan your trip from this airport to Nijmegen.

Other airports
If none of the above-mentioned airports has a convenient flight for you, you could check the Cologne Bonn Airport or Dusseldorf International Airport.

b) Train

Schiphol Station is located directly beneath the airport. Follow the signs for ‘Trains’ after leaving the baggage hall. Trains to Nijmegen run directly from the airport directly or via Utrecht. You can plan the details of your trip using the Dutch Railways website (Schiphol- Nijmegen) or the ‘door-to-door’ journey planner. Please keep in mind that in the Netherlands, trains do not run all night. If your plane lands after 23:00 hrs.  it is possible that you will have to stay overnight.

c) Bus

From Nijmegen Station you can take a bus to the workshop location (approx. 15 min., including a 5 min. walk). Depending on your arrival time, you can take the following buses to one of the bus stops near the workshop location:

1, 3, 6, 11, 12 (get off at ‘Bus stop Van Peltlaan’)

10, 15, 300 (get off at ‘Bus stop Spinozagebouw/Tandheelkunde’)

83 (get off at ‘Bus stop Sint Annastraat/Heiweg’)

d) Car

The city of Nijmegen is easily accessible by car from all parts of the country. The Max Planck Institute sign at the Houtlaan (close to the intersection Sint Annastraat/Houtlaan) marks the entrance of the Wundtlaan driveway which directly leads to the MPI parking lots.

 

Restaurants

All restaurants are at the workshop venue or within 10 min. walking distance

a) MPI Canteen (MPI building): The recently renovated MPI Canteen is located on the ground floor of the building. The canteen serves breakfast and lunch. Several sandwiches, soups, salads, and hot snacks are available. Opening hours: Monday until Friday from 08:30 – 14:00 hrs

b) Restaurant Het Gerecht (Montessorilaan 10): This canteen is located on the Grotius building on the ground floor, at the Faculty of Law 4 min. walk from MPI. Warm and cold meals are served from Monday to Friday from 11:00 – 15:00 hrs. Please note that this canteen DOES NOT accept cash – payments are only possible with debit and credit cards (Visa and Mastercard).

c) Restaurant De Refter (Erasmusplein 3): De Refter is the university restaurant located in the very middle of campus, 10-minute walk from MPI. It offers various organic dairy products, bread, fruit juices as well as hot meals between 12:00 – 13:30 hrs (Monday until Friday) and 17:00 – 19:00 hrs (Monday until Thursday). Opening hours: Monday to Thursday from 08:30 – 19:00 hrs and Friday from 08:30 – 14:00 hrs.

d) Douwe Egberts (DE) Café (Montessorilaan 3): The Spinoza DE-Café is located in the Spinoza building on the Faculty of Social Sciences, 7 min. walk from MPI. The DE-Café serves coffee, tea, cold drinks, and sweet and savoury snacks. Opening hours: Monday until Thursday from 09:00 – 18:30 hrs and Friday from 09:00 – 15:00 hrs.

 e) Restaurant Valdin (Van Peltlaan 4): This restaurant is 9-minute walk from MPI and serves hot meals for both lunch and dinner. Opening hours: Monday until Friday from 11:00 – 21:00 hrs
